The Men in Sheds are very happy with their new machine – New Planer/thicknesser and would like to thank the generosity of the Limpsfield Artisan Golf Club who have chosed The Woodhouse Centre as their captain’s charity this year. They would also like to say a hearty thank-you for the recent donation of Ronseal Varnish organised which will be put to good use in the Shed.
The Woodhouse Centre celebrated the start of their 50th anniversary with a special ‘golden rose’ planting ceremony. The sun shone and members watched the planting of the rose and had some drinks to celebrate this special occasion.
The Woodhouse Centre is planning some workshops for the community to come and try some new crafts. These will take place in The Woodhouse and are open to all the community. They will cover a whole range of crafts from bunting making to making Christmas Wreaths and cater for a whole range of ages.
The first workshops – MAKING BUNTING – A 3 hour workshop for parent and child/children on Monday 23rd August at The Woodhouse Centre, Oxted. 9.30-12.30 am and 2-5pm (choose session). Cost per adult and child £20 (additional children £5 each) and includes fabrics and refreshments. Sessions are for up to 6 adults with children (max 2 each) at each workshop. Children aged 9+.
We are also offering a special rate of £15 for students – maybe of interest to students going off to Uni to decorate their new rooms.

Members at The Woodhouse were, like the rest of the country, celebrating England getting into the Euro 2020 Football Finals One of the members made a flag and the rest of the members supplied the smiles! Come on England!! #weweretherethefirsttime
The Woodhouse Centre were very grateful to receive a Members’ Community Allocation Grant through Councillor Cameron McIntosh and were pleased to welcome Cameron along to the Centre to meet the members and see how the grant was spent. The Men in Sheds have used it to buy a grinding tool and one of the members demonstrated it to Cameron. The Men in Sheds have been very busy making all sorts of items from tables and bowls through to bird and hedgehog boxes and told Cameron how pleased they were to be back after lockdown.
Check out some of the new craft ideas that Woodhouse members have been coming up with. Using a die cutting machine they have not only made a whole range of cards but also ear rings and some very cute ladybird planters from soft drinks and beer cans! They are also experimenting with tea bag art and have been promised end of run tea bags from Tetley and Yorkshire Tea to help.

Lovely to receive a surprise visit from Lisa Cobby (Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team). She was pleased our members were enjoying the Centre once again and that we were safely following the Covid guidelines. Always great to see our local police community support officer. Thank you Lisa!
Members are so pleased to be back at The Centre and thanks to the heat pads purchased from money awarded by Tandridge Together Lottery Fund. They can now Diana chat and craft in comfort even with all the windows open 😀
