Lorna Edser

Lorna and her husband ran their own computer simulation & modelling company for 25 years whilst bringing up their 4 children in Caterham. It was at that stage she became involved in finance and went on to be involved in business finance, not only their own business, but also her children’s.

For almost 50 years she has been an active volunteer within Tandridge.  This started with an active involvement and becoming treasurers of the PTA’s at her children’s schools – St John’s School in Caterham, and then developing a long association with Oxted School, where she was a member of the PTA and then a Parent Governor for 4 years.  In 2003, Lorna joined the team of volunteers at the Limpsfield Village Store, working in the Post Office for 6 years, and eventually joined the Committee and became the Finance Officer in 2008.  As a member of Link (2000-2014) she ran the Link community minibus for 12 years.  It was through running the Link Bus that she met Dee Graham & became a Trustee at the Woodhouse Centre in 2004 and has looked after the finances at the Centre for 16 years.  She also set up a gift aid scheme for East Surrey Samaritans which over the years has raised over £70,000.

Lorna was awarded the Tandridge Hero Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020 recognising all the support she’s given to a huge number of organisations within the area for over 40 years.

In her spare time she enjoys skiing, gardening and walking and seeing lots of her 7 grand children, one of whom is in New Zealand, where they manage to go for 5 weeks most years.
