The Woodhouse Centre in Oxted opened on 12th April after months of being closed. The opening week was made extra special with a surprise visit from the High Sheriff of Surrey Mr Shahid Azeem DL, who came to look round.
He spent time talking to all the members and finding out about the crafts they were carrying out and also visited the Men in Sheds section. He spoke about his role and how the majority of his time as High Sheriff has been in lockdown, including his installation process which had to be carried out for the first time in history virtually.
The Woodhouse Centre opened again on 12th April, in line with Government guidelines. The biggest priority remains the safety of the members and staff and The Centre will continue to do everything to limit the spread of the virus but are very pleased to welcome everyone back to The Woodhouse Centre.
A Special General Meeting of
the Woodhouse Centre will be held on Thursday, 18 February, at 12:30pm.
The meeting will be held online, using the ‘Zoom platform.’
The Woodhouse Centre invites anyone interested to join in their Special General Meeting. Please register to attend the meeting by emailing: email@example.com. Once registered, we will send a pack of materials supporting the business of the meeting, including instructions for joining the online meeting and using Zoom, an introduction to the new Trustees and Officers being presented for election, last year’s Annual Accounts, and a report from the Manager, Dee Graham, on the Centre’s recent activities.
Thank you to Helena and Sam at Titsey Rotary for organising the sponsored run, and for including the Woodhouse Centre in thier list of organisations for Seb to visit on his run. The Titsey Rotary have been so supportive of the Woodhouse Centre for many years and now this includes our Men in Sheds. Well done Titsey Rotary and long may it continue to thrive.
We are pleased to announce a TVA Local Heroes Award 2020, focussing on our Hon Treasurer, Lorna Edser. The video starts with Sarah Spires’ nomination describing Lorna’s remarkable work. It concludes with the presentation to Lorna at her home by Peter Damesick (TVA Chairman). Many congratulations to Lorna on her Lifetime Award.
It is with great sadness that, following yesterday’s Government advice, we have decided to temporarily close The Woodhouse Centre from today, 17th March 2020, until further notice. This also includes the Spring Sale that was planned for Thursday, but is now cancelled.
Of course we are very concerned for all of our members, and especially those who live alone and who may be worried about isolation; we encourage them to contact us if they have any worries or questions. Together we can get through this.
Mulled wine and mince pies were on offer at the Men in Sheds shed, taking part in this community event. Nice to see the shed looking so festive, with all the lovely stars representing Trolly Dollies, the Woodhouse Centre, Tandridge Handicraft Society and more.
