Sophie is a chartered accountant who qualified with PwC then moved into the charity sector with IPPF in a role which took her all over the world monitoring sexual reproductive health projects in remote areas. She has enjoyed working in multidisciplinary teams ever since, taking the fear out of finance and making it more accessible to non-finance colleagues. Sophie has been self-employed as an accountant for small businesses for the last 13 years, alongside raising her family in Oxted and being heavily involved in the local community. She was Treasurer of the PTA at Limpsfield School and Chair of the PTA at St Mary’s Junior School for a number of years. She is currently Treasurer of The Oxted Players and the Tandridge Canoe and Kayak Club and enjoys taking part in both groups whether it’s on stage at The Barn Theatre or in a boat on the water. Sophie also enjoys playing games with her 3 teenage children (when they will indulge her!), going on dog walks, yoga and singing in a band with her husband.
Sophie has been helping in the office at The Woodhouse Centre for the last couple of years and has really enjoyed getting to know this fantastic local charity and the key role it plays in combating isolation in our local community. With the current pandemic increasing isolation and loneliness, Sophie felt it was the right time to step up her commitment to the Centre and become a Trustee. She looks forward to helping build and strengthen The Woodhouse Centre as a hive of activity and support in the community at a time when it is so needed.
